The Locking Session
Follow-up Visit
First Visit: The Consultation
You and your consultant will discuss your personal hair care history, styling preferences and whether Sisterlocks® is right for you. Four or five “Test Locks” are put in your hair to determine the best locking pattern and size based on your hair type. This consultation is essential for both you and your Consultant to ensure you get your Sisterlocks® done in the most suitable way.
Second Visit: The Locking Session
This session will take place after you have had a chance to shampoo your hair at least twice, normally two to three weeks after the sample locks. Bring a good book because the locking process can take several hours or it can be done over several days to accommodate your schedule. The average Sisterlocks®’ customer will leave this session with over 450 locks! Your Consultant will provide you with a “Starter Kit” that includes the proper shampoo for starting your locks, tiny rubber bands and “tip sheets” on grooming and shampooing as your locks settle-in. Be sure to schedule your follow-up before you leave. Good maintenance is the key to gorgeous Sisterlocks® over time.
Third Visit: Follow-up
Your follow-up visit will take place about a month from the time you first get your locks put in, and after you have had time to shampoo them a couple of times. Your consultant will monitor the integrity of your locks, tighten them and give you an idea of how long the settling-in process is likely to take. Styling tips for the “total look” can also be discussed at this session.
Ongoing Follow-up Visits
Your first few re-tightening visits should be at 4-6 week intervals thereby allowing your Consultant to monitor the progress of your locks. Your Consultant will be able to determine how often you will need to come in for re-tightenings. The average time between visits is 6-8 weeks, depending on the hair type and rate of the hair growth.
